Product description
N°10 pocket knife produced by Opinel, with a stainless steel blade and beechwood handle.
The N°10 pocket knife features a corrosion-resistant stainless steel blade. The beechwood handle is very comfortable to hold. The Virobloc safety system locks the blade in both open and closed positions.
This multifunctional tool is truly indispensable for hiking or picnics. It is also well-suited for tougher tasks such as cutting branches or working with dense materials.
Martensitic stainless steel
The stainless steel used in OPINEL blades is optimized for high corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical performance.
The blade offers excellent sharpness and high resistance to abrasion (wear), allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials like ceramics before requiring resharpening. Unlike carbon steel, stainless steel does not require special maintenance under normal usage conditions. However, it may reach its limits if exposed for extended periods to aggressive environments (acid, salt water, detergents, etc.).
Steel hardness: 55–57 HRC.
Yatagan blade
The classic Opinel blade has adopted the Yatagan shape. Inspired by a traditional Turkish sabre, the blade curves slightly upward at the tip. It is ground to an exclusive convex profile, ensuring blade strength and enabling efficient resharpening.
Handle
Beech is the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. Sourced from France, this wood is hard, durable, and easy to work with. It has a uniform appearance, with a light colour that ranges from yellow to pink and is characterized by the presence of numerous fine, darker lines.
Safety ring
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is found on all folding knives starting from model N°06. Made from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two sections: one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (for safe use), it also allows the blade to be locked when closed (for safe transport).
Blade length: 10 cm
