Product description
N°07 pocket knife, blade made from stainless steel, produced by Opinel.
The stainless steel blade is corrosion resistant and the wooden handle feels comfortable in the hand. Its perforated handle with hanging loop makes it convenient to hang.
Martensitic stainless steel
The stainless steel used to manufacture OPINEL knife blades is optimized to guarantee both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance.
The knife blade offers excellent sharpness and high abrasion (wear) resistance, allowing it to withstand the usual contact with hard materials such as ceramics before requiring resharpening. Stainless steel has the advantage of not requiring special maintenance under normal use, unlike carbon steel. However, it can reach its limits when put in prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent...).
Stainless steel hardness: 55-57 HRC.
Yakatagan blade
The classic Opinel blade has adopted a Yatagan shape. The Yatagan shape is inspired by a traditional Turkish sword, with the tip pointing slightly upwards. The blade is polished to an exclusive convex profile, which ensures blade strength and allows for efficient resharpening.
The handle
Originating from French forests, this white wood with few wood ribs is ideal for applying colour. The handle is lacquered to protect it against moisture and dirt.
Safety ring
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted on all foldable knives from the N°06 model
onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade when it is closed (safety during transport).
Blade length: 8 cm
