Customize the blade as you like
This unique sharpener gives you the ability to customize your knife blade for optimal performance, depending on the type of edge you want for the blade. The 3 different blade types (fine edge, steel edge and steel/polished edge) can be achieved using different stages of the electric sharpener. Polished sharpening will allow users to cut fruit and vegetables with ease to create attractive platters, and boning meat and cutting fibrous foods will be much easier thanks to the customized steel edge. The steel/polished edge is perfect for delicate tasks such as filleting fish or slicing smoked salmon.
Sharpening stages
Stage 1: Consists of conical rotating discs imbued with 100% diamond abrasive particles that safely sharpen the entire range of kitchen knives, from the Asian-style ones to hunting and pocket knives. They never damage the knife blade and help extend the life of quality knives.
Stage 2: Features super-hardened miniature steel, which along with precision angle guides develop a sharp edge with ultra-sharp microscopic serrations that provide a superior "bite" to the steel edges. Stage 2 can be used as many times as you like to maintain a consistently sharp edge until stage 1 is needed again.
Stage 3: Uses a flexible abrasive disc system – a high-tech version to create a fine, smooth, microscopic edge. Can be used as many times as needed to keep edges polished until additional sharpening is required. Stage 3 is also used for sharpening serrated knives. The very fine flexible disc straightens and aligns each protruding tooth, so that it becomes a very sharp "micro-blade". It is excellent for serrated knives of any alloy, both forged and unforged.
How it works
Fine edge: Use Stage 1 to sharpen and Stage 3 to perfect and polish, for a sharp edge that is ideal for serving decorative platters and precision cutting of more delicate foods.
Steel edge: Sharpen with Stage 1 and then Stage 2 to achieve the "controlled bite" preferred by professionals for cutting fibrous foods.
Steel/polished edge: This is a superb edge of unprecedented sharpness that combines both the characteristics of a steel and polished edge by sequentially going through stages 1, 2 and 3. It is ideal for precision cutting and elegant presentation of foods such as smoked salmon.
The rubber feet on the sharpener keep the device stable on the work surface. The sharpener does not require the application of oils or liquids. The unit is compact enough (25.4 × 10.8 × 10.8 cm) to be placed permanently on the kitchen worktop so that the knives can be re-sharpened quickly.
The sharpening time is approximately 1 minute for the first sharpening, and re-sharpening takes approximately 10 seconds.
