Accident prevention
Natural gas, butane and propane are explosive in certain concentrations and, therefore, can put your life at risk. In case of gas leaks, you want to be warned so as to act fast. In your home, for example, natural gas leaks can occur from boiler or gas hobs. You can prevent fatal accidents by using a gas alarm.

24-hour protection
The Smartwares RM400 gas alarm has a powerful and clear 85 dB sound that sets off in case natural gas, propane or butane is detected. The gas alarm is powered by the electricity mains and comes with a 9 V spare battery with a 1-year service life. In the event of a power failure, the gas detector switches to this spare battery and can operate for 1-2 hours. The service life of the sensor is 5 years and offers 24 hours of protection. You will hear a short beep if the battery is running low, so you will be warned when you need to replace the battery. It is recommended to test the alarm on monthly basis by pressing the test button fitted on the device.

Installation
It is important to mount the gas alarm in the right place, as some gases rise and others remain low, on the ground. You should mount the alarm next to the gas source, such as boiler, gas hob, or gas cylinders. If you want to detect natural gas, you should place the gas alarm at maximum 30 cm from the ceiling and maximum 8 m from the gas source. The green LED light will indicate that the gas detector is working properly. It is recommended to connect the adapter directly to the mains socket so that you cannot turn it off accidentally.

Maintenance
The functionality of the gas alarm can be influenced by dust and dirt, therefore it is important to clean the alarm on monthly basis using a slightly damp cloth and twice a year with a vacuum cleaner. You should never use cleaning products nor paint the gas alarm. You can test the alarm by simply pressing the test button.
